The Aachen-based startup everwave has set itself the task of cleaning rivers of plastic waste and thus protecting the oceans - through technological innovation, ecological inspiration and international cooperation for a sustainable future.
The circular economy is a central focus topic for the strategic development of the motan group. As a foundation, we are pursuing the goal of closing the gap in the circular economy both through educational work and by supporting the Aachen-based start-up everwave.
With the help of waste collection boats, everwave prevents waste from entering the oceans. The company pursues a multi-layered approach: the focus is on avoiding plastic and waste that could end up in the oceans via rivers. Artificial intelligence supports the cleanup missions by identifying and analyzing the waste. The collected material is then recycled using environmentally friendly processes.
Another important part of the strategy is to raise awareness of the challenges - through events, community engagement and public communication. Only when the global waste problem becomes visible can it be solved together.
The motan foundation has been supporting everwave since the end of 2021. The partnership includes a keynote speech at the annual IGCS workshop and educational work on the recycling of plastics within and outside the motan group. This year, a vehicle will also be financed by our donation and branded as part of the partnership. The collaboration between motan and everwave for greater sustainability and environmental protection fits in with our long-standing strategy of continuously developing processes and products and making them more sustainable.
everwave cleans up the environment: garbage boats are used to prevent waste from entering the oceans. Artificial intelligence assists in the cleanup missions to detect and analyze waste. The collected material is then recycled through environmentally friendly processes and, in addition, the public is made aware of environmental issues. The start-up is organizing long-term and holistic Cleanup Projects e.g. in Thailand, Romania or Cambodia to ensure clean waters. Until today everwave has already collected over 1.6 million kilograms of waste from rivers.
