Education is the cornerstone of our economic life and crucial for economic success. With this in mind, Ralf Schneider established the motan foundation in 2011 together with his daughter Sandra Füllsack. With a clearly defined corporate vision and a flair for identifying new markets Ralf Schneider laid a solid foundation for the future success of motan. As managing director of the motan group, Sandra Füllsack has been responsible for the foundation since 2023.

As a company-affiliated foundation, we are closely connected to the motan group. This means: our values and activities are based on the company’s philosophy and culture, but our projects go beyond business and take on social responsibility. We build a bridge between what motan achieves technologically and the responsibility society has for the environment and future generations.
Our goals include:
The motan foundation achieves its objectives by organizing and supporting scientific events and research projects, particularly in the field of business ethics, and by providing financial and non-material support to charitable associations that are active in the above-mentioned areas.

Plastics are essential for modern life: they make cars lighter, save energy, protect food and medicines, and are indispensable in areas such as medical technology and renewable energy. Plastics are nearly indispensable for packaging materials, which contribute greatly to resource efficiency by functioning as insulation or light building material and thereby reducing heating oil and fuel consumption, or by extending the shelf life of food stuffs as packaging material.
At the same time, plastic waste is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time and needs to be solved by society as a whole. We are convinced that the solution lies in circular economy approaches. Circular economy is a model for production and consumption, where existing materials and products are shared, leased, reused, repaired, reprocessed and recycled for as long as possible. This expands the life cycle of products. In practice, this means that waste is reduced to a minimum.
motan provides the technology to process plastics efficiently, but our responsibility as a foundation goes further: waste must not simply become waste. Instead, it should be collected, reused and recycled in order to return into the material cycle.
The motan foundation aims to raise awareness through targeted projects and provide information on the responsible handling of plastic waste. We also promote initiatives to collect waste that is then recycled in order to actively contribute to the circular economy. At the same time, we want to raise awareness of the fact that pollution of the world's oceans is one of the biggest environmental problems of our time.
With educational initiatives, research projects and partnerships, we support solutions that promote responsible handling of plastics – from production to recycling.
Our aim is to make clear: social responsibility means critically questioning the role of plastics by recognizing their benefits for modern industrie while addressing the negative impacts of plastic waste on the environment. By doing so, we want to foster a constructive discussion no how plastics can be part of a sustainable future rather than a burden for coming generations.
